Pulihora(Tamarind rice)


Pulihora is a south Indian traditional dish..Mostly in festivals each and every house will have pulihora..On the occasion of Makara Sankranti distributed  tamarind rice for the needy people..try this one you will love the tangy taste

Ingredients:

Rice1kg
Tamarind handfull
Chana dal 2tbsp
Cashew nuts handfull
Groundnuts 3tbsp
Curryleaves
Green chilli-8
Red chilli-4
Turmeric 2tbsp
Salt per taste
Mustard and Urad dal 2tbsp

Procedure :

Soak rice for an hour and cook till 2whistles

Heat a pan and add oil or ghee and fry cashew and keep aside

Then fry Groundnuts and keep aside

Soad handfull of tamarind overnight and takeout the pulp

In the same pan add chana dal n roast until brown then add mustard n Urad dal..
add Curryleaves and tamarind pulp..keep lid on let it boil for about 7min ..then open the lid and check the consistency.. it should be thick..

Now add 1tbsp turmeric and 3tbsp salt ..mix well and swich off

Now take a big bowl add boiled rice,tamarind paste and mix ..again add rice and tamarind paste.. mix everything well and finally add ground nuts n kaju..mix thoroughly and serve


Tada tamarind rice is ready..we call pulihoraa
